Why we Sell Wood Bats...Because
the Rule Book says to!
That's how baseball's played!
Be ready for Summer Baseball BBCOR for 2012
BBCOR.50 Certified
Starting Jan. 1, 2011 - All bats used in the NCAA and any organizations that
follow NCAA rules
(such as the NAIA, NFHS), must be BBCOR.50 certified.
The BESR
certification is no longer allowed and will cause a team out if used in a
High School game.
The PowerWood tm is all wood, laminated and remains true to the Baseball
Tradition. No plastic, fiberglass, foam or metal rods. The NCAA approved it
as a "solid wood bat" and is exempt from BBCOR testing but
MacDougal got the BBCOR.50 Certification to be sure have the necessary proof. Patents pending.
REAL TOUGH
Testing at the Baseball Research Center showed the PowerWood bat to last
about 10 times as long as a regular wood bat. This is achieved by a special
laminating process, rock hard Hickory in the handle and Sapele a wood harder
than Maple in the barrel
for balance.
It's so tough we back it with a
4 month breakage warranty. It's
the ONLY real solid wood bat with that!
This bat is equal in durability to
Baum Bats and has lots more Pop.
REAL PERFORMANCE
NWIBL players using
Baum Bats this summer switched to the MacDougall PowerWood
Bat...players just feel the bat has more POP
Are you up for a performance advantage? The Patented laminated hickory handle makes
the PowerWood stiff but stills allows enough flex to whip the ball through
the strike zone adding more "PowerPop" and a larger effective sweet spot
because of the Hard Wood Barrel (Staple wood is harder than Maple). This means
that when you miss the dead-on sweet spot, more collision energy goes into
the ball instead of the bat and rattling your hands. Think, just 5 more
balls that turn into hits out of 100 at-bats and you go from .275 to .325.
Talk about SWEET. Other players are now saying this is the best wood bat
on the market.
PowerWood™ bats are slightly heavier on the scale (thanks to its hickory
handle) but have an equivalent swing feel to a regular wood bat with the
marked swing weight.
MOI is similar to swing weight, but uses the bat's weight and its
center-of-balance to calculate a number that is a more consistent indicator
of how heavy or light the bat feels while swinging.
No matter how big the barrel is you still only have 1.22
inches of bat surface to make contact with the ball when you hit it
square...

The handle is made of hickory and the barrel of sapele, a rare
hardwood that is 4% harder than rock maple.
PowerWood Technology is a patent-pending design and lamination
process that we use to build the MacDougall PowerWood M-10 and M-21
bats. It's a lengthy process that starts with sourcing select hickory
and hardwood
that is carefully checked for grain conformity and freedom from natural
defects that could negatively affect the bat's strength. These
hardwoods, in concert with our special laminating process, add
unparalleled strength and stiffness to the bat, effectively creating a
bigger sweet spot since more power is transmitted to the ball.
What is Swing Weight? What is MOI?
On the ends of every Bat, you'll find two numbers corresponding to the
bat's
swing weight
and moment of inertia. Both numbers give you an idea
of how the bat "feels" when you swing it. PowerWood™ bats are slightly
heavier on the scale (thanks to its hickory handle) but have an
equivalent swing feel to a regular wood bat with the marked swing weight.
MOI is similar to swing weight, but uses the bat's weight and its
center-of-balance to calculate a number that is a more consistent
indicator of how heavy or light the bat feels while swinging. Try
swinging a few regular wood bats in different swing weights before you
buy.
See the chart below.
What lengths and weights is the Powerwood available in?
The PowerWood is available in lengths from 31" to 34" in ½" increments
and are in the -2 to -2.5
swing weight range so you can get the bat that fits you perfectly.
For example, a 32½" minus 2 would feel exactly the same to swing as a 33
minus 3
The MacDougall & Sons PowerWood™ is available in two
models: the M-10 and the M-21 and the world's coolest Fungo bat. All are
handcrafted and come with a limited one-year warranty and an
industry leading 4 month breakage warranty. Our bats are -2 to
-2.5 in Swingweight. Patent 7972229.
Test speed protocol: 125 mph at
the label (bat speed is slower near the hands) After 50 hits, the
testers ramped the speed up to 163 mph (40 mph faster
than it would see in the Majors). Nothing happened, even after 89 hits.
The pro-model comparison bat only survived eight hits at 125 mph.
Do I need to hold the bat label up?
Nope. Hold it any way you want. We mill each piece of wood
so that the edge grain faces out, making a barrel that's strong
along its entire circumference. Swing away!

What about a warranty?
We back every bat with a One-Year Limited Warranty. (Warning:
Boring Legal Copy follows.] MacDougall & Sons Bat Company, LLC,
guarantees to the original purchaser that for one year from the date
of purchase, our bats will be free of any manufacturing defect (such
as joint failure) that causes the bat to break. 4 Month
Breakage Warranty: In the rare occurrence that a bat breaks
for any reason during normal use hitting only regular DRY (NO WATER
LOGED) baseballs
during the first FOUR months after purchase, we will replace the
bat at our discretion. Any replacement bat will be covered for the
remaining warranty period of the original bat.
This warranty is for individuals only, not "team" bats.

Available in lengths from 31" to 34" in 1/2"
increments for custom fit
Made in USA -- Bend, Oregon
It's not Rocket Science, but it's
close.
PowerWood Technology goes into every bat we make. But
what goes into PowerWood Technology? High- tolerance joinery, ivory hickory
and hardwoods, plus a special laminating process, to name a few. All
combine to create a bat that will never shatter or splinter - something
other all-wood bats can't do. No foreign materials like plastic, foam, metal
or fiberglass. We stay true to the Baseball Tradition.
The proof is in the PowerWood.
The Baseball Research Center put the PowerWood to the
test. In case you think our bats look "flexible" in these videos, rest
assured they are not. That's what happens when you hit a bat on the end of
the barrel at 198 mph. And remember, the regular "pro model" wood bats
broke a LONG time before they got to this point.
